Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 15

Day 15

Thank you.

The “Let’s Stop Rape” campaign is a project that kicked off with an intentional to bring more awareness to the issue of Rape. In the past 15 days we have touched on a few things which inludes:

The definition of Rape
The position of the law
Anybody can be a victim: No one is full proof
Every one is a possible suspect: Be alert and aware.
What to do as a victim
Your responsibility to the work and much more..

The work is for everyone to do and the way to start is with people around you by creating the necessary awareness to stop it. We must consciously raise our young  boys and girls to respect people and train them to be responsible for their actions and the good of everyone.

I appreciate everyone that was part of this campaign in one way or the other either by sharing or liking the contents daily. I’m sure your contribution goes a long way.
Thank you.

I will be launching out by doing more of this via other social media platforms. This will be very influential in achieving the desire. By the grace of God I hope we can have short videos/skits, a song, a documentary and possibly a movie. Invitation to schools will be a consideration. I hope this campaign can be taken to schools or places where youths are present.

You can lend your support in different ways. Plug into the idea to stop rape and find out how or where you can fit in. Prayers and words of comfort will go a long way so you don’t have to wait till you are fully set to participate.

You can contact me via WhatsApp(only) 234 8159911801 or send an inbox message via adeoyegabriela@yahoo.com .

I encourage you to continue this drive and let’s stop rape. Thank you again and watch out for more in the year ahead. Enjoy and have a great  year 2018 ahead.

Thanks.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 14

Hello friends.
We are at the last stage of the campaign "Let's Stop Rape". Today we call for commitment from all stake holders. Your commitment is required. Read and share . Like and comment. Thank you.

Day 14

The commitment

This is a call to commitment to everyone because we all have a part to play. Parents need to commit to teach and train their children in the way of the Lord that they may not depart from it. Adults need to make a commitment to protect the young girls and boys from being victims of rape. Young boys at this stage and time make a firm commitment to stand against rape. Your commitment ought to be to God and not just a mere verbal utterance without proper follow up. We must all stand in defence of the vice that secretly creeps into our homes like a terror and take the joy  of a loved one. Stand against it. Let’s stop Rape.

A man or woman who rapes or sexually assaults another is malfunctioning and ought to be fixed. The right one to fix a malfunction is the creator/designer - God. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ. believe in Jesus Christ and He will make you a new creation.

Make a commitment to God now. Make a commitment to God that you will not rape or be an accomplice to rape.

Thank you.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 13

It's day 13 of the "Let's Stop Rape" campaign. It's not too late to be a part of it. Today we look at what is a seeming lasting solution. Please read, share, like and tweet.

Day 13

Just a word: solution in male responsibility.

The Male gender is key: there has been more reports of rape or sexual assault committed by men than women. This means the man/male child should be responsible for himself never to rape someone. As ready made suspect, they should be trained to perceive rape as evil. He should be taught to have self confidence and respect for other people. Teach him to be a man.

Who is a man?
A man is designed by God with strength(more physical strength): every man is designed to have physical and mental strength. the strength is innate and must be properly channelled. when idle and not properly channelled, it is used for all kinds of vices which may include rape.
The male strength is given for these three main reasons:

To Create- God has given man the strength to create and not destroy. He uses his strength to chat new paths for victory. He uses his strength to build others up for achievements. It is why kids see their dad as their first hero. A real man creates.

To Lead- he has the strength to lead people to their potential. created in an image of a head, he is to lead himself and his family to fulfil their purpose. It is natural with man to lead. He leads to safety, to abundance, to restoration etc. He has a natural disposition to lead and leaders take responsibility for whatever is within their reach or influence. A real man leads in the right direction.

To Protect- every man uses his strenght to protect from danger. He wants to protect and defend the people he loves from evil. He does not want anything to happen to whatever is his. He is strong so he can protect. A real man protects from evil.
2
Strength is never for destruction: it is a perversion and abnormal when you see men who destroy.  Men who destroy are actually living against their God design. This perversion usually occurs when a child is not trained in the way of the Lord. While the strength seeks to be free to try out everything (good and evil) there is a responsibility the parent has which is to help him focus on the good. If it is learned by discipline early and he’s used to it he will not leave it. A real man does not destroy. Rape is destruction. A real man does not rape.

Parents have a responsibility to train up young boys to become men. They should be thought to live responsibly and fulfil the position of responsibility they have. A parent should not leave out the discipline and training of a male child no matter how precious he is perceived to be. He is to be taught and it must be done consciously. This training is to include how to think constructively to be a builder of walls and not a breaker. You must train your male children so that they will not engage in such a vice as rape. As we do this early and teach them to respect others, we stop rape in our community. Train your child.

As a male child who is growing to be a man, you must equally be 3responsible for all  decisions. Every decision has consequences and the consequences are not determined by an offender.  Before you act, think carefully through it and weight the consequences against the immediate benefits. No matter what training you lack as a kid, you must be responsible for yourself now. Your life is in your hands and should not be left to someone else’s mistake. Pi3355ck yourself up and be determine you will be a godly man. One who loves, creates, leads right and protects but never destroys. Be a man.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 12

This is the 12th day of the "Let's Stop Rape" campaign.  We conclude on what should be done in case there is a rape (You may need to see day 11 for previous points) as We deal with the internal effects. It is serious and requires personal commitment.
Read, share, comment and tweet. You can also be part of the ongoing survey. The link is below.

Day 12
A Rape victim is always plunged into another state of life that is entirely  different from her normal usual self. The play back of The event mixed with the pain and helplessness makes it difficult to move on and it fills the heart with hate, grief, fear and unforgivness. Today, we look at how to get away from that strange place you suddenly find yourself and that strange person you have become.

-Take it to Jesus Christ: Jesus said “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”- Matt 11:28 (NKJV). Those words are real and they are true. There is rest for every soul that comes to Jesus. Rest is that place of tranquillity, a place where you find peace inspite of so much that life is throwing at you. Only a walk with Jesus Christ can offer the peace that brings healing, clarity and direction. It is better experienced than described as words fail to express the reality of it.

You have to take it all to Jesus. He will meet at your very point of need. He will fill the vacuum and emptiness you feel within you. He will pull you out of the miry clay and slimy pit and wash away every shame you feel and set you on solid rock and give you a new song to sing. Take it that this ought to be a walk and not just a one time contact. You should have a close walk with Him through every momemt and phase of healing. The devil will always try to remind you of that past as you are being healed but as you walk closely with Jesus, He will comfort you and give you a new and beautiful experience always. He will replace the shame with joy and glory. Take it to Jesus.

-Forgive: I agree that forgiveness is a difficult pill to swallow at this stage but it is a necessary for complete healing to happen. when you forgive, you take away the weight and burden of wrath you feel. The burden of not forgiving the rapist limits you from giving full expression in worship to God which includes your livelihood. To forgive is to cancel every wrong you hold against someone. Its like picking an arrow and shooting far away into the sea where you cannot find it anymore. It is not as easy as stated but through faith in God, you can find strength to forgive as you have been forgiven through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. If you have been forgiven much then you have to forgive. You will not forget but the power that forgiveness will give you will supersede the bitterness that remembering ought to bring.

Forgiveness is first personal and with the Lord so you don’t need to see the person before you forgive. You can forgive without ever meeting the person again. Whenever and wherever you forgive, it is a chance for you to get your victory, freedom and strength back from the person. You deserve to be joyful and you will find it as you forgive.
Chose the path of victory and forgive the rapist. You can.

Please take a moment to share, comment, like and tweet.
Thank you.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 11

Hello friends, it's Day 11 already of the "Let's Stop Rape" campaign. If you're just joining, it's not too late. Today's topic is very important. Grab a seat and read then like, comment, share and tweet. Let's Stop Rape.

Day 11
In the event that one is a victim or you have a victim around you, there are a few things that can help. While it is going to be a devastating time or period, one thing that must be consciously done is to try to be in control of yourself and the situation. You have to be strong beyond the emotional trauma and take immediate steps to be in control in order to do these things and get your life back. It’s not as easy as it sounds but you have to fight for yourself. Let’s see some of the actions below that answers the question...

What if I become a victim?

-  Talk to someone you can trust: this is a very important step to start with. talk to someone no matter what threats have been given by the rapist. Most threats are false and will only be stopped when you report. The person you pick or decide to talk to should be someone who is mature and that you can trust. Someone you know will stand by and with you through the new phase of life you have just been thrown into. Maturity is not by post or position so it does not necessarily have to be a clergyman as some may castigate rather than lift up. Sometimes it’s that mature aunty withiin your reach who is sincerely interested in you. Do not be afraid to speak. While you may be ashamed and uncomfortable to speak to a member of the opposite sex, if that is the better option to talk to then do not hesitate to do so.

- Report at the police station/ human right agency: for the sake of prosecution the incident must be reported at the nearest police station. Approaching a human rights organisation is also important because they will take it up and take you through every step to prosecute the perpetrator(s). The judiciary may have been slack on these matters in years past but have become more committed  to it because of the human right activities.j Do not be afraid to report at the police station and get in touch with agencies that can help. The rapist must be nabbed and prosecuted. Do not be bullied to step down from fighting for justice to take it’s course.

- Have a check up at the hospital: there must be an immediate visit to the hospital to affirm the claim of rape and for proper treatment and cleaning against unwanted pregnancy. The affirmation is to get a report from the hospital before any clean up is done personally so that you get a report confirming rape. Such report serves as evidence in court to prosecute the rapist. This is very important and should not be considered unimportant.
The other side of it is to check for any injuries and treat same. In the event that there is/are tears, the hospital will offer appropriate treatment. There will also be proper care to avoid any unwanted pregnancy from the rape. Please do not shy away from visiting the hospital. It is very important and should be done fast. You may not be able to tell the extent of damage personally.

-See a professional counsellor: It helps alot to have some sessions with a counsellor (a trained one). Such sessions will help you understand where you are and get you back on track. It is not all pastors that have the required skill to counsel on this kind of matter. A trained counsellor will separate the emotions from the right decisions to be taken and will gradually restore back to stability with little or no sense of loss.
A trained Christian counsellor will be my recommendation because s/he should help you walk with God through the journey.

We shall continue from here tomorrow.  Please join in this campaign “Let's Stop Rape. Please share, comment, like and tweet.

Thank you.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 10.

join the campaign. "Let's Stop Rape"

There is a spiritual dimension to every individual. This spiritual position for the Christian must be understood in order to benefit from it. Day 10 of the “Let's Stop Rape” campaign shows us a little of that.
Share, comment, like and tweet...

Day 10
- The leading of the Spirit: This a special  arrangement available to every believer in Christ Jesus. The presence of the holy Spirit in the believer give him the privilege of being led. To be led is to be influenced by the holy Spirit. This influence includes giving directions and Instructions even in specific activities.  The leading of the Spirit can be very specific and detailed. He can tell you where to go or not to go. When to be somewhere or not. The Holy Spirit can even lead you out of danger.
As much as this is available to every believer to benefit from, it is not everyone that benefits from it. To benefit from the leading of the Spirit you must learn to keep in step with the Spirit. This is real and shouldn't be shoved aside. You will only get better at doing so as you yield to the Holy Spirit.
To know more, talk to a Christian that understands this beautiful provision.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 9

It's another beautiful day and it's the 9th day of the "Let's Stop Rape" campaign.  We continue on the measure we can take to prevent rape. We consider the use of a common device as an option.

Day 9
- Self defence: Self defence is the act of defending yourself when you are in a helpless situation. It is acceptable in the court if proven irrespective of the outcome/damage on the person. You should learn how to defend yourself. It is a skill that can be learnt and will come in handy at times when someone attempts a rape. You can try Taekwando or Judo, Boxing or kick boxing.
You should also work at being fit. Register with a gym if necessary and be disciplined with your routine. Physical fitness also improves your mental alertness.

- Keep a speed dial: A speed dial is when you have a contact on your phone registered to a particular figure/button such that you just have to press only that button to dial the number stored to it. Every phone can keep a speed dial.

This is like a last resort to take when it seems you are  out of option. You do a speed dial without allowing the rapist know and start talking loud for your receiver to hear and swing to action as fast as possible. This means the person on your speed dial must be someone smart and patient, able to deduce what is going on and act on it as fast as possible. When the issue is out of control, you use your phone which will not bring any suspicion.
I guess we can figure out other thoughtful ways we can use our gadgets as security helps in times of difficulty.

You have a responsibility in this matter to protect yourself and your loved ones. Remember that a rape culprit can be masked in a simple and helpful look. It is better to be prepared than to be caught unawares.
Let’s stop rape.

Please share, comment, like and tweet. Your advise is welcomed.
We will look at the last and dynamic way to be protected from rape. You shouldn't miss it.
Thank you.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 8

It's already the 8th day of the "Let's Stop Rape " campaign.  Today we continue to look at measures we can embrace to protect from rape.
Join in and help create awareness. Share , comment , like and tweet.

Day 8
We continue to see the measures we can take to protect ourselves and friends from rape.

- Communicate your movement (openly): It is important  that you communicate your movement to loved ones always. But very important is that if you find yourself in a situation you do not trust, try to call someone you can trust while it's still possible and speak confidently and openly for everyone in the room or area to know you are describing that location. Possibly talk about people within the vicinty  and how to get there.  This will put some fear and caution in the heart of the suspect to possibly have a rethink. If you will do this then you must be smart and be able to trust your sixth sense to identify a possible danger. You will not have the chance for this when the perpetrator is all ready and set to strike.

- Be smart & alert: This is about being thoughtful and able to think two or three steps ahead of the suspect. If you are found in a suspicious and unpleasant situation, you need to be smart and  very alert. You have to think of a possible way out of the situation without showing panic. You study the situation to see what will work to get you out without endangering your life.
You may engage in a conversation by speaking to the person's  conscience or you have a commanding verbal display of confidence to put things in order. You should also be aware of things around you or in the environment eg the kind of lock, possible object or tools to defend yourself while you talk yourself out of the situation. It may be shouting that will get you out of the situation.
Whatever you do, make sure you are not putting yourself in harm's way. Your life is very precious and must be put into consideration. There is hope for everyone living.

We will look at two more points tomorrow. We can stop rape and sexual molestation. Please share, lìke, comment and tweet. Join the “Let's Stop Rape “ campaign.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 7

Hello friends, it's day 7 of the "Let's Stop Rape campaign". Today, we look at how to to protect ourselves and loved ones. So relax, read, comment, share, like and tweet.

Day 7
The effect that rape leaves on people, families and even communities make it important to consider carefully how we can protect ourselves and loved ones. As it has been said that anyone can be a victim then we will deal with this for 3 days...

How do I protect myself, friends & family?

There are a few measures we can adopt to keep us protected from a rapist. Depending on the desperacy of the rapist you will need to keep all of them in mind and be very cautious and smart. The following are the measures to consider:

- No solitary trust: Solitary trust is when you have absolute trust in someone of not being able to commit a crime. While there are people you hold in that area in your life(I do) at least leave 1% chance for failure. For whatever reason there might be a shift in focus at that period to other things that gives chance for a fall. This will help you put other things in perspective and consideration like not creating all alone moments to be considered as temptation. It will let you pay attention to any case reported to you and not just discarding it without thinking through.
You cannot give any one a special trust. Everyone is a liable suspect. Take any case reported serious and intelligently investigate it.

- No dark areas: As much as possible you should avoid staying or walking in dark areas and routes alone. Evil they say thrives in the dark. The dark is an easy and enabling environment for rape to happen. You will likely not get help during this period because people are also afraid of the dark. It brings fear to the heart of people.
Try other busy routes, it's safer even if longer. If you must go the dark routes, go in a group and with bright light. As much as possible initiate in homes and communities that dark routes, rooms, corners be lit up. It will save possible victims from alot of danger.

- Open privacy: Open privacy is when you are in a private meeting with someone but in an open or common place. You should have your private meetings with the opposite sex in places that anybody can have acces to without seeking permission like an eatery or mall that gives you the chance for privacy among a crowd of people.
If you must have a meeting with some one alone, let it be a public place that can give you private time eg eateries, class rooms, shopping malls etc and if within your house let it be the general room(sitting area) possibly with doors left unlocked. This is especially for those in a relationship(adopt this to help yourselves).

- Create the awareness: You need to take up the responsibility to create an awareness about rape. Information takes away fear and ignorance. Some kids and adults have been molested because of ignorance. Lack of information creates an opportunity for vulnerability. You start by knowing about it and how to fight it. Then you talk to people you love about the issue of rape. No one is to young to learn. Teach your children not to let anyone touch their private parts. Teach them within the scope of what they can understand.

We will continue to look at more measures that we can put in place tomorrow. Please share, like, comment and tweet. Someone needs to know all these through you. Also feel free to share your questions or  personal experiences of how any of the above have worked for you.

Thank you.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 6

It's the sixth day already of the "Let's Stop Rape " campaign.  We look at the effect of rape on suspects today. You may say "who cares about the suspect?" but take a moment to read. Share, like, comment and tweet. Rape is evil,  we can stop it.

Day 6
Rape suspects should be aware of the adverse effect of rape. Children should be informed early about it as it helps them in their decision making. Today, we look at the adverse effect rape has on rape suspects.

- Perpetrator/Suspect
There are effects and Consequences for every action. Suspects in rape also have to deal with consequences for thrir actions. These consequences vary and may differ as every rape case differ. The suspect may have to deal with any of the following depending on the victim involved:

* Injuries: there is a possibility of being injured during the rape. Th victim may inflict serious injuries on the suspect depending on the advantages the victim may have at the  time. Advantages may be physical strength, fighting skills, weapon, intelligence etc

* STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections): every occasion of sex without protection is a risk to  contacting an infection.

* Guilt: suspects are always left guilty for the act committed except the heart is hardened already. The conscience will always query the wrong actions done. This may last for a long or short them and lead to low self esteem.

* Shame & loss of integrity: whatever integrity the suspect has before incident will be lost and it is usually difficult and will take time to regain such integrity.

* Loss of life(death): any suspect is at risk of losing his life. This may be during the rape by the victim. It may also occur from jungle justice or a sentence by the law depending on where the rape occurred.

* Sentence by law: a suspect that is found guilty will face the wrath of the law. In Nigeria, the penalty for rape is a life sentence.

This is to challenge us to charge and warn our children and ward to stay away from this menace to our society.

The satisfaction derived from rape is infinitesimal compared to the possible adverse effect that comes with it. You also have a responsibility to engage young boys and let them understand that there is no good in it.

Thank you.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 5

It's day 5 of the " Let's Stop Rape " campaign.  Today,  we look at the possible effects of rape on a victim..
Please read, share, comment, like and tweet. Somebody needs to see this.. Thank you for the support since it started..

Day 5
What are the possible effects?
The effect that rape has on people cannot be confined to straight jacket. The effect differs per event, individual(s), response and reaction after the rape. It has an effect on both the victim and the suspect. We cannot afford to shove aside any incident of rape that come to our notice. We must act inorder to save a future.

It is said that "People who have been raped can be traumatized and develop posttraumatic stress disorder.[9]Serious injuries can result along with the risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. A person may face violence or threats from the rapist, and, in some cultures, from the victim's family and relatives. - Wikipedia

Lets see some of these effects from the actors in a rape case. We will focus on the victim today.

- The victim
* injuries and tears: injuries may occur from struggles with the suspect. These injuries may be life threatening at times. Tears are likely to occur at body part where penetration was forced. It could be very bad in cases involving children.

* STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections): the suspect who cannot control himself will likely have STI from sleeping around.

* unwanted / unplanned pregnancy: a pregnancy may evolve from this evil act that is mostly unwanted. It is very emotional and challenging. In cases where the victim has been desirous of a pregnancy, it is still very difficult.

* loss of pride/self esteem: a lot of victims often experience a loss of self eteem. They are badly affected and feel so inadequate and find it difficult to fit in.

* depression: this results from a low self-esteem as earlier mentioned and mat tend to suicide thoughts and attempts.

* loss of life: life may be lost during rape or from the effect of the rape.

This shows why it is important to pay attention to this issue. We must be aware of happenings around us. We must Be vigilant and ready to act.
The effect that the management of these have on parents, guardians, homes and communities cannot be readily quantified. It pays to invest time now to avoid any rape incident than to manage a victim. Choose and act wisely.

Thank you.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 4

It's day 4 already. Join in the "Let's Stop Rape " campign.  Read, share, like, tweet.

Day 4

Who can be a suspect?
A Rape suspect is the person(s) who perpetuated the act of rape but have not been found guilty accordingto the law. This suspect would have committed the crime already by forcefully having a sexual intercourse. It means whether the court eventually declares guilty or not, the deed is done. A vast majority of rape cases are not reported while those reported do not get quick judgment or do not get at all. It makes it important that  everyone must be able to identify a potential suspect before the strike.

So the question to ask is - Who can be a suspect?

Who are you supposed to be mindfull of. Who can perpetuate the act of rape?
The truth is, following reports we have from the past ANYBODY can be a suspect.

Beginning from Faceless crook to distant relative to house/domestic help, friend, sibling, parent, clerics, teacher etc

Look at a few head lines.

There are many more.

This implies two thing of many things.
- Nobody should be given a blind trust.
- You have the responsibility to protect against rape (either yourself, your ward and the possible perpetrator- do not help them).

There is a tendency to start being paranoid over this issue by suspecting everyone you see but you do not have to. You only need to have the right information to protect against rape and be aware. The first person to trust is the possible victim who must be enlightened within their scope of understanding.

Do not let down all your guards. Anybody can fail.

Thank you.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 3

Hello friend. Thanks for your participation. Today, we will look at people who cn be victims of rape. Read, like, comment, share and tweet. Let people be aware of this menace and stop it. Yes we can!!!

Day 3
Who can be a victim?

A victim in this case is anyone who has been raped or sexully mollested. This means the person has been unlawfully touched without consent. Whether the law passes a judgement or not, the deed is already done. Since the law does not protect from being a victim, it makes a lot of sense to identify people who can be victims and responsibly seek ways to avoid and protect such people.

So the question to be answered is WHO CAN BE A VICTIM?

The unfortunate answer is ANYBODY.
Anybody can be a victim. Nobody is full proof from rape or sexual molestation. The regular attraction for sex have been defied at different times which is based on the several reports in the media.
Toddlers, children, teenagers, youthful/adults, elderly.. have all been reported in rape or sexual molestation cases in the media in the past five years.

These are just a few headlines. You can do a search and you will be amazed at the victims you will find.

Bringing it closer is to say your baby; your children, neice or nephew; your teenagers in school; your friend, mum, aunt, wife and even grandma can all be a victim. If you are a woman reading this, then you also can(no need to cast and bind, I don't pry it happens).

No one is full proof.

The essence of this information is not to get you to live in fear but to create an awareness for the menace and make you more sensitive and alert so that you do not drop all your guards.

Your part in all these is beyond the "Let's Stop Rape" campign period. It must be continuous.
Tomorrow, We will look at "Who can be a suspect?"

Thank you.

Please share, like and comment. People need to know this reality. Also feel free to be part of our survey. I appreciate your participation.

Let's Stop Rape campaign: Day 2

Day 2.

What the law says..
A vast majority of people do not know what a rape suspect will get when convicted for the crime. It varies from one country to the other. The ignorance of justice, the shame and the fear of being stigmatised keep people from reporting rape cases.

The reason there's focus on the punishment the law offers a rape criminal are:
- to create an awareness that should discourage and be a caution for any future perpetrator from commiting the act and,
- to give hope so that rape victims would not be made to suffer in silence.

There had been different laws enacted to deal with the issue of rape in differnt zones of the country but recently in year 2015, the Nogerian senate passed a bill into law that rape offence will now get a sentence of life imprisonment maximum which may be less. The "Sexual Offences Bill" sponsored by Senator Chris Anyanwu, was passed into law on 14/6/15 by the Senate.
According to vanguard.com which states that "The Senate The bill, among others, prescribes life imprisonment for gang rape, 10 years for incest, another 10 years imprisonment for child pornography or more and a fine of N2 million as well as 14 years jail term for sexual offences."

Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/senate-approves-life-sentence-for-rape-10-years-for-incest/

So lets look at the punishment for rape in different parts of the world.
-  What is punishment for rape?
Nigeria – life imprisonment (maximum but it may be less)
India-       life imprisonment or death
France-    15 years’ imprisonment to death
US-            life imprisonment
UK-            life imprisonment
Saudi Arabia- death
North Korea- death
Israel-         16 years’ imprisonment
China-   death

These all amount to a wasted life for anyone who is guilty of the crime. This offers some sort of hope and should also serve as a word of caution as we train our children. We can inform our children at a young age about the consequence of this crime so tht they can stay clear from it or fight for justice if the need arises.

According to lawpadi.com "Reporting rape can be a very emotional and difficult thing to do, so you should consider getting support from organisations like Mirabel Centre – http://mirabelcentre.org/ , 8where rape and sexual assault victims can get access to forensic medical assistance, and more importantly professional counselling services.

Let's Stop Rape campaign. Day 1

Hello friends,

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!
I am using the Valentine's day to start this campaign tagged "Let's stop RAPE" for the next 15 days. It is geared towards bringing an awareness to the issue of rape and pointing us in directions to reduce such evil. I will be sharing some information around this subject that will inform, advise and challenge readers.
As a show of LOVE, I will expect you to LIKE, COMMENT and SHARE.
You are free to share your experiences privately or publicly. I will be willing to pray and counsel people (via the available means for now). Questions would also be answered within my scope of experience and the people who will be volunteering their time to attend to cases that may come up.
I have thouht BIG about this and this is the second campaign on social media. The first one was on Facebook and I consider it successful.
Please feel free to express yourself and share your ideas, availability and possible resources that can help.

Let's stop RAPE.

Day 1

Rape is a menace to our world.
It seem to be more rampant these days to hear or read about a rape or sexual molestation incident. It goes from young adults to teenagers to children and even the elderly. There seems to be a total lost of self control at this time. Well, it is heard more now because of the expansion of the social media. Many years before now such news were hardly heard or reported. Even now, more cases are not reported and out of the few cases reported, justice is not well served.
We can make an attempt to put an end to rape by bringing an awareness of the matter to people. An awareness will open the hearts of people to what they can do. How they can contribute to it. What support they can give to victims. How they can nab and prosecute people. With coordinated effort and loud shouts we can get the right people's attention to fight and put an end to the issue of rape.
You may think Rape is far from you but you just never know. The people who have fallen victim never planned it or have any incline that it will happen. Some little girls and boys have become victims to trusted adults without the knowledge of parents. It cn happen to anyone around a victim.
I am married and have children that I never pray will experience it. The effect most definitely will be with me forever if it ever happens, so I empathise with those who have been victims and pray for the Lord's comfort. That He will reach in that area that only He can and bring restoration to your life. Amen.

Lets start by looking at the definitions of rape.

What is rape?
Definition: Rape is...

unlawful sexual intercourse or any other sexualpenetration of the vagina, anus, or mouth of anotherperson, with or without force, by a sex organ, otherbody part, or foreign object, without the consent ofthe victim. -Dictionary.com

unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against the will usually of a female or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent  - merriam-webstar.com

The crime, typically committed by a man, of forcing another person to havesexual intercourse with the offenderagainst their will: Oxforddictìon.com

Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse or other forms ofsexual penetration perpetrated against a person without that person's consent. The act may be carried out by physical force, coercion, abuse of authority or against a person who is incapable of giving valid consent, such as one who is unconscious, incapacitated, has anintellectual disability or below the legal age of consent.[1][2][3] The term rape is sometimes used interchangeably with the term sexual assault.[4]  Wikipedia

The common factor apart from the sexual activity done is a lack of consent. Adults must learn to avoid, protect and be prepared to avoid sexual activities where consent has not been given. There are ways around it if we can be responsible to it.
In the case of children they are incapable of giving consent so responsibility is on parent or guardian to watch, monitor, guide and protect such from sexual activities. Parents and guardians must take this as a job and must sharpen their sixth sense to bee alert always.
Finally, Rape is evil. The effect is devastating. It must be stopped. We can, if we work at it.

There is a God side to it which the church must wake up to. As children of God, our hands should not be folded expecting the law to put the society in order. We have a responsibility to the victims, the perpetrator, the family and community to bring God in. Whatever God touches comes alive.
